Inside the Mill : Tollegno – Twisted Tailor

Tollegno is an Italian fabric mill that has been in operation since 1900. It's one of the oldest mills still in operation and it produces some of the finest fabrics in the world. For instance, in 2016 they were chosen to make the fabric for the Italian president's new robes. Over the last 200 years, the mill has had a lot of history and it is a fascinating place to visit.

The History

Founded in 1900, they have over 100 years of history and have used merino wool and fine fibers to create high-quality, innovative, and sustainable products. They have a strong competence that has been built over the years and a tenacious Italian know-how that has allowed their products to be distributed internationally.

Biella's wool textile tradition is a proud part of their history, but they are always looking towards the future. They promote and enhance their land, but they are also projected into the world with offices in New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Osaka. They are constantly developing new paradigms that favor the growth of their sector.

Sustainability

Tollegno 1900 is a fabric mill that strives to find a balance between being efficient and respecting the environment. This creates a foundation for a sustainable economy that makes sustainability, recycling and reuse its strengths.

Tollegno 1900 invests in machinery and systems to minimize its impact on the environment and, at the same time, maintain the well-being of its employees.

They choose partners who share their philosophy of care for the environment and making rigorous and scrupulous choices. They certify their commitment with eco-friendly certificates that show how much the production and processing of their yarns comply with precise eco-friendly regulations. Because respect for the environment means being responsible for their actions and implementing initiatives capable of generating value.
